Plant Fire Suppression Systems

Reacton's heavy equipment automatic fire suppression systems are certified to the most demanding standards such as PMark SPCR199. This standard allows a clear comparison between different types of systems. Its no surprise that all Reacton systems score A+.

Heavy Equipment Fire Protection

Automatic fire suppression for Heavy Equipment or Heavy Duty Mobile Equipment (HDME) is available for assets including Heavy Duty Excavators, Compactors, Groundwork Machines and Mining Equipment. One common trait throughout the equipment is that they are specialised for their function and come with a very large price tag.

For example, an above ground mining dump truck will be, by design, very large to make transporting their load as efficient as possible. This means that everything on board is upscaled with higher output engines, large hydraulics and lubrication requirements. These all increase the potential fire risk with more fuel and ignition sources. To further add to the issue they will be operating in remote areas where fires can quickly consume the vehicle with little or no help on standby which is why automatic fire suppression systems are so important.

The only way to safeguard these critical assets is to provide it with fire protection that will always be online to protect at any time it is needed regardless of its location.

What are the benefits of a Plant Fire Suppression System?

Protect Any Heavy Equipment Machine

With scalable systems sizes available, your Heavy Equipment can be protected with one of our A+ certified systems.

Easy to install

With a modular design & world class training, Reacton systems ensure that its simple for systems to be installed on Heavy Equipment with limited space in engine compartments and transmissions.

3 Year Warranty

Reacton Heavy Equipment systems carry an industry leading three year warranty that's only possible due to the robust engineering and quality that goes into every product.

Quality Components

A system is only as strong as its weakest part so Reacton ensure every component is manufactured and tested to exacting standards.

P-MARK SPCR 199 Approval

If your heavy vehicle is critical to your business, don't risk your assets with anything less than a 10/10 A+ rated system. Reacton doesn't just have one system approved we have 3 P-Mark SPCR199 configurations.

BSI ISO9001:2015

Our quality management system audited by BSI ensures our products and procedures are amongst the best in the world.

No Electrical Power

With zero reliance on electrical power our systems detect and operate 24/7, 365, day or night in all weather conditions.

Rugged Design

With almost all functional components constructed from stainless steel, you can be sure our products are as rugged as the assets they protect.

CE & DOT

As a global business, meeting regulatory and legislative standards is a must have and we ensure our products remain compliant now and into the future. Cylinders and valves are available to both European & North American specification.

Installing an Automatic Fire Suppression System

Installing a complete Automatic Fire Suppression system from Reacton® will achieve this, it will be mounted on the vehicle protecting all the critical risk areas. It is not just the selection of a Dual Agent system that provides the solution, working in harmony with the system will be the battery isolation, engine shutdown, remote activation and monitoring.

As a fire suppression system manufacturer, Reacton® has spent many years developing ancillary functions and equipment to provide the ultimate in Heavy Equipment fire protection.

Not all Dual Agent fire suppression systems are the same.  Reacton® is one of only two manufacturers in the world to be able to provide a system that meets the demanding testing program set out by the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE). This is the P-Marked system to SPCR 199 accreditation, we were the first manufacturer in the world to achieve this accreditation.

Reacton® have set the benchmark for this standard by not only scoring the highest possible marks in the Fire testing but also using an extremely compact and economical system size. Our automatic fire suppression systems are simple to upscale and configure with a large range of system sizes being approved.

High Performance Automatic Fire Suppression

Heavy Equipment operate in the toughest and most remote of environments. Having a fire suppression system that has not been proven and verified by trusted laboratories is not an option. Reacton® go to these lengths to test and confirm the system so that you can be assured of their performance.

Our Heavy Equipment fire suppression system features include:

  • System & components tested to ISO 16750-3:2007
  • Corrosion resistance to ISO 21207:2016
  • Multi Port High Flow Discharge Valve
  • Robust detection system
  • Stainless steel materials
  • Extreme heavy duty brackets

Why Dual Agent Fire Suppression

Firstly, what is Dual Agent? Sometimes referred to as Twin Agent, this concept is essentially a combination of two types of extinguishing mediums discharged either simultaneously or serially, from two different discharge or piping networks but controlled by the same fire detection and release system.

Reacton® automatic fire suppression systems designed for Heavy Equipment are ideally suited to the Dual Agent configuration. This is made up of both a Dry Powder and Wet Chemical system.

This Dual Agent configuration offers significant advantages to just one type of fire extinguishing medium, especially when compared to just Wet Chemical systems, where it can offer a 40% reduction in system size.

Dual Agent systems are an outstanding fire suppression method due to combining the individual features of Dry Powder & Wet Chemical into one extremely effective solution. So, not only can the system provide the rapid flame knockdown of Dry Powder with the cooling & blanketing properties of Wet Chemical the system is economical and significantly smaller than that of a Wet Chemical only system.

It is also important to note that the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in particular NFPA 122 - 12.3.6.1.1 state that hydraulic/diesel excavators with hydraulic systems above 567.8L (150 gal) Dual Agent systems shall be provided.
